
Laura Massiel Castillo Gómez, originally from San Felipe, Puerto Plata in the Dominican Republic, is an accomplished professional with a degree in Systems and Computer Engineering from Universidad Dominicana Organización y Métodos (O&M).
With more than 15 years of experience in the health sector, primarily within Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs), Laura has built an impressive track record in diverse roles ranging from project coordination and social outreach to monitoring and evaluation, financial management, and executive assistance. She currently serves as the Director of Monitoring and Evaluation at Health Horizons International, where she continues to drive impactful work.
Laura is deeply committed to continuous learning and professional development. She has completed advanced studies at prestigious institutions such as the Instituto de Capacitación Profesional y Empresarial (INCAPRE), the Open University for Adults (UAPA), the Graduate School of Universidad Iberoamericana (EGRU-UNIBE), and the Department of Continuing Medical Education (DEMEC) at Universidad Iberoamericana (UNIBE). In addition, she has received specialized training from notable national and international organizations, including USAID’s Global Health Learning Center, the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), and the National Institute for Technical Professional Training (INFOTEP).
Beyond her current role, Laura serves as a member of the consulting team at Sigil Consulting Group SA, an international consulting firm with a strong focus on social development projects throughout Latin America. Sigil Consulting Group SA, founded in Panama in 2010, draws on more than 20 years of expertise from its partners, who have led and contributed to social development initiatives across the region.
Laura’s career has been marked by a deep commitment to addressing critical health issues, particularly among vulnerable populations. She has worked extensively with health promoters, youth, sex workers, LGBTQ+ communities, individuals with limited educational opportunities, and low-income populations. Her focus areas include HIV/AIDS, sexually transmitted infections (STIs), sexual and reproductive health, and chronic non-communicable diseases, among others.
Her expertise is bolstered by numerous certifications, including Executive Management, Human Talent Management, Monitoring and Evaluation, Conflict Management, Assertive Communication, and Teamwork, among others.
Laura’s personal and professional philosophy is shaped by a deep sense of purpose and collaboration.
